Absences

Please contact the school office by 9 a.m. (322-4311) (press 3 for SIMS office) if your child is not going to be at school.  You can leave a message for the secretaries if it is before or after office hours.  Please arrange at that time to have homework picked up.  Consistent school attendance is a key to effective learning.  It is the student's responsibility to obtain missed assignments or work. Students will be allowed 10 absences with the parent calling in or by note and these absences will be excused.  On the 11^th absence, a doctor's note is required.  Without a doctor's excuse, the absence will be classified as unexcused. 

Tardies

Students arriving after 8:13 are considered tardy and must report to the office to sign in. Late bus arrivals, inclement weather and written confirmation by a legitimate professional person will be excused.  Please see that your student gets to school on time each day. 

Leaving School During the Day

If a student needs to leave during the day for any reason, the person picking up the student must enter by the front door, come to the office and sign the child out.  If the student returns, they must sign back in.  Please bring any doctor or dentist excuses at that time.
 

Access to Grades and Assignments

Parents of 5th, 6th, 7^th & 8^th grade students, who want to see their student's grades will need an ID number and password to get onto Parent Connect. The ID number and password is the same as last year. If you do not have your ID or password, please contact the school office to get one.  When you are on the school's homepage, click on "Parent" on the top right hand side.  Then select "SIMS SDS" for students at the middle school.  That should take you to your student's information.
